Here’s the thing…I’ve always been the kind of person who cooked at home. I always made meals from scratch and tried to have dinner prepared and ready to eat no later than 6 pm. That’s how my grandmother did it. When I was younger, my mom worked nights but by the time I got home from school, dinner was already on the stove for me. As I got a little older, dinner instructions were waiting for me and I did the cooking…and i’m talking about around 9 years old. My mother worked in restaurants and bars, as did her father. So naturally, I also worked in restaurants, and both of my brothers worked in restaurants. At 50 something, my mother opened her catering company, People’s Choice Catering. We had contracts to serve meals in cafeterias of car plants and steel plants.
